Many great ideas are born over a beer with friends – but for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, INEOS Chairman and 4x4 enthusiast, the idea of the Grenadier was one he was determined to make a reality. And so, the journey began.

Starting with a strong foundation, in 2018 a team of 200 expert engineers were assembled in Stuttgart to begin working full time on Jim’s vision of the perfect 4x4. Once the bricks were laid and vision started to become reality, it was time to consult the 4x4 community on what to name this exciting up-and-coming vehicle. 6,000 participants replied and thus the Grenadier was christened with its name in honor of the London pub where it was first conceived!

As the Grenadier entered the series development stage another 4x4 specialist by the name of Magna Steyr was brought in to engineer the production vehicle and give form to function! This led the Grenadier team to expand into a world-class manufacturing facility in Hambach, France to begin production! The exterior of the Grenadier was designed to meet the outdoor demands of any terrain while retaining a functional yurt striking form. The interior was designed with purpose, practicality, and modern technology to deliver everything owners would need for their next adventure.

Finally in October of 2021 we opened reservations to our long time supporters and then to the general public two weeks later. Now, after years of dedication, innovation, and development, the Grenadier has arrived.
